The East Asian module explores collaboration and cooperation – between individuals, within organizations and between organizations and governments.

This module provides a unique perspective on these issues, given that the very nature of cooperation and collaboration is so different from the approaches used anywhere else in the world.

With field trips to Japanese and Korean companies, managers from other countries learn a great deal from observing the local practices of management and from the way the entire experience forces them to reflect on their own approach back home.

Some of the key topics discussed during this module are: collaboration and M&A strategies; collaboration with customers; the role of trust in joint ventures; how collaboration affects knowledge creation, knowledge management and knowledge sharing; and managing in China.

“Each of us has a meaningful role in an organization. As a manager, I have to take care of my subordinates/colleagues individually, to understand and respect their characteristics, their work/life balance and I have to try to find the best way to draw out their power and wisdom.”
